What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file your browser saves to your device when you visit a site. It lets sites remember you, store your preferences or measure your visit.
How does this site handle them?
On this site, no non-essential cookie runs before you consent to it.On your first visit you'll see a preference box at the bottom of the page. If you decline, the site carries on working in exactly the same way; nothing is switched off.
Technically this is done with Google Consent Mode v2: measurement tags start in the “denied” state by default and only move to granted if you accept.
Cookies used
| Cookie / Storage | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ke-consent-v1 | Essential | Remembers your cookie preference. Without it the preference box would reappear on every page. Held in your browser's local storage and never sent to the server. | Until you clear it |
_ga, _ga_* | Analytics (consent-based) | Google Analytics 4. Distinguishes visitors from one another and measures which pages are viewed. | Up to 24 months |
_gcl_* | Advertising (consent-based) | Google Ads. Measures whether a visit that arrived from an ad led to a result. | Up to 90 days |
Analytics and advertising cookies are only created once the relevant measurement tools are switched on and you have consented. If you don't consent, none of the cookies in these rows is written to your device.
Change your preference
You can change your mind at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it:
Managing cookies in your browser
Independently of the preference above, you can block all cookies or delete existing ones from your browser settings. That setting affects every site:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
About third-party cookies
Analytics and advertising cookies are placed by Google. You can read how Google processes that data in the Google Privacy Policy. I should also point out that when you consent, this data is transferred internationally; the details are in the Privacy Policy.
